Pianist of Argentine origin, Nelson Goerner has had a brilliant international career as a soloist and in chamber music. He records primarily for Alpha Classics, where he recently released a critically acclaimed Liszt recital.
Nelson Goerner is widely acclaimed for the poetry and depth of his interpretations. He has performed with leading orchestras such as the London Philharmonic, Orchestre de Paris and NHK Symphony, and at major festivals including Salzburg, Verbier and the BBC Proms. A passionate chamber musician, he regularly collaborates with Martha Argerich, Steven Isserlis and Gary Hoffman. He maintains close ties with the Mozarteum Argentino and the Chopin Institute in Warsaw.
Goerner records mainly for Alpha Classics, with highly praised albums of Chopin, Brahms, Debussy and Beethoven. His latest release (Alpha Classics, 2024) is a Liszt recital centered on the Sonata in B minor, complemented by the Petrarch Sonnets, the Sixth Rhapsody, and the study La Leggierezza.
Born in Argentina in 1969, he now lives in Switzerland and is an active supporter of the humanitarian organization Ammala.
