Following recent debuts with the Berliner Philharmoniker and Sir Simon Rattle, the Los Angeles Philharmonic under Gustavo Dudamel, and the BBC Symphony Orchestra with Sakari Oramo opening the Proms, Sol Gabetta begins this new season as a Principal Artist at the Lucerne Festival.

As part of her residency, she performs with the Vienna Philharmonic and Franz Welser-Möst, as well as the Mahler Chamber Orchestra with François-Xavier Roth, and the London Philharmonic under Marin Alsop. Later in the season, she embarks on a European tour with the Orchestra dell'Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, followed by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. Living up to her reputation as a committed advocate for underrated works, Sol Gabetta will also tour Germany with the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, featuring Weinberg's Cello Concerto under Mikko Franck. Gabetta will also perform this season with the Orchestra Filarmonica della Scala and the hr-Sinfonieorchester Frankfurt. She will also premiere Michel van der Aa's new Double Concerto with Patricia Kopatchinskaja and the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra.
A popular performer at international festivals, Sol Gabetta opened the 2018 Schleswig Holstein Musik Festival with the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra and Christoph Eschenbach, and the Bad Kissingen Festival with the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen and Paavo Järvi. As a renowned chamber musician, Gabetta recently performed with the Hagen Quartet at the Salzburg Festival, the Tonhalle Zurich, the Elbphilharmonie, and the Vienna Konzerthaus. Previous seasons have taken her to New York's Lincoln Center for the Great Performers Series in her celebrated recital duo with Bertrand Chamayou, London's Wigmore Hall, Lucerne, Verbier, Schwetzingen, and the Rheingau, Schubertiade Schwarzenberg, and Beethovenfest Bonn festivals. She also continues to collaborate closely with various musical actors at the Solsberg Festival, which benefits from her ambitious artistic direction.
In recognition of her outstanding artistic achievement, Sol Gabetta received the Herbert von Karajan Prize at the Salzburg Spring Festival in 2018, where she performed with the Staatskapelle Dresden and Christian Thielemann. The ECHO Klassik regularly recognized her career between 2007 and 2013, most recently in 2016 when she was named Instrumentalist of the Year for her performance of PÄ“teris Vasks's Cello Concerto No. 2. A Grammy Award nominee, she also received the Gramophone Young Artist of the Year Award in 2010 and the Würth-Preis des Jeunesses Musicales in 2012, as well as accolades at the Moscow Tchaikovsky Competition and the ARD International Competition in Munich.
Gabetta continues to expand her already extensive discography with SONY, her most recent album being a live recording of the Elgar and Martinů cello concertos with the Berliner Philharmoniker and Sir Simon Rattle / Krzysztof Urbański. In 2017 she joined Cecilia Bartoli on an extensive European tour, promoting their Dolce Duello album released on Decca Classics.
