Ulrich Knörzer

A three-time winner of the German national competition “Jugend musiziert,” he studied from 1980 to 1987 with Rainer Moog at the Hochschule Cologne and with Karen Tuttle at the Juilliard School in New York (1988/89), completing his training with masterclasses including those of Max Rostal, Sándor Vegh and Yuri Bashmet. In addition to his orchestral activities, Ulrich Knörzer performs regularly as a chamber musician. From 1992 to 2006 he was a member of the Scharoun Ensemble in Berlin.
Little Anecdote
Ulrich Knörzer began playing the violin at the age of nine, but since his teacher was keen to introduce his students to chamber music and Ulrich was the oldest, he was soon forced to take on the role of violist.
