"Yuja Wang's piano is that of a fairy or an ogress: her ten small constricting fingers, her childlike head leaning over the piano, her upright body barely shaken by the explosion of a mini-tornado in the bass or a punch on the keyboard. With her, the word "virtuosity" is in its primary sense, that of virtue and courage... Yuja Wang is also the incarnation of a moving depth, a visionary art and great architect of sound planes, an infinite palette of colors."

At just 29 years old, Yuja Wang is internationally recognized as one of the most important artists of her generation.

She combines a prodigious technique with the depth of a musical vision, which allows her to tackle the most complex works in the repertoire.

At the age of fifteen, she arrived in the United States where she studied at the Curtis Institute in Philadelphia, notably with Gary Graffman. An exclusive Deutsch Gramophone artist, she has recorded several CDs, including sonatas and studies, and variations in evocative programs such as Transformation and Fantasia, which have won major international awards. Her encounter with Maestro Abbado marked an important turning point in her career. Invited by the great Italian conductor to his Lucerne Festival with concerts in Beijing (Prokofiev's 3rd Concerto), she recorded with him and the Mahler Chamber Orchestra Rachmaninov's Paganini Variations and 2nd Concerto. Many conductors have called upon Yuja Wang, including Daniel Barenboim, Valery Gergiev, Lorin Maazel, Zubin Mehta, Kurt Mazur, and Yuri Termikanov. Recently, a concert in Caracas with Gustavo Dudamel was followed by a recording of Prokofiev's 2nd concerto and Rachmaninov's 3rd concerto. Yuja Wang devotes a significant part of her career to chamber music, notably with a cycle of great quintets in 2011 in Paris and a Brahms cycle in 2013 with the Konzetleister of the Berliner Philharmoniker. She also regularly participates in the Verbier Festival. Both through the breadth of her repertoire, which encompasses the great concertos of the repertoire, and through the breadth of her recital programs, Yuja Wang has become, in just a few years, a key figure in the new contemporary piano.
