Iddo Bar-Shai

Born in Nazareth Illit in 1977, Israeli pianist Iddo Bar-Shai studied with Pnina Salzman at the Rubin Academy of Music at Tel Aviv University. He also received guidance from Alexis Weissenberg.

He attracted attention from a young age and, from the age of eleven, received scholarships from the America-Israel Cultural Foundation. His career then took on an international dimension. He performs in numerous European countries, Israel, the United States, Brazil, Japan, and China, in prestigious venues such as London's Wigmore Hall, Tel Aviv's Mann Auditorium, Paris's Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, Tokyo's Opera City Hall, and Beijing's Zhongshan Concert Hall.

Iddo Bar-Shai has performed with major European and Israeli orchestras, including the English Chamber Orchestra, the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra-IBA, and the Orchestre de Paris, under the direction of conductors such as Lawrence Foster, Aldo Ceccato, and Jesús López Cobos.

He has participated in prestigious festivals such as the International Piano Festival of La Roque d'Anthéron, La Folle Journée, Verbier, Ravinia, La Grange de Meslay, and the Radio France-Montpellier Festival.

His album dedicated to Haydn, released by Mirare in 2006, was widely acclaimed by the press (Diapason, Le Monde de la Musique, Piano International, etc.). In December 2008, his recording of Chopin's mazurkas was released on the same label, in turn receiving unanimous praise worldwide, with top ratings from prestigious newspapers and magazines such as Le Figaro and Fono Forum.
